Pre Event VIB Rouge Haul

By now you’ve heard something of the VIB Rouge event on Sunday. No? What about the delightful sale coming up where everyone gets a little something? Not that either? Oh goodness, well surely you’ve seen the new products for Spring 2015. You’re kidding me. I see. Well we can’t delay any further. Get a pen. We’ve got a lot to cover. Links are in bold.

First thing first, lots of new goodies have popped up as spring and summer fast approach. Bite Beauty released a collection of 12 fabulous lip glosses, in a limited edition set delightfully named WatercolorsThey are simply named by number, which makes me a little sad because I bet Bite could have come up with nice names for them and made this completely irresistible. This is almost too heavy to be a gloss, and more like a lip stain. The formula is thick, but not uncomfortably so. If you like your lip gloss to be more tacky and creamy than glossy and oily, this may be the thing for you. The pastels seem to show up more than the darker colors, but that might be because of the contrast to natural lip color. Color is buildable, but I think, due to the size of the product, this really isn’t about bold color but more about the formula itself. It’s soothing to the lips after a dry, unforgiving winter. It’s hydrating, and long lasting, with a reasonable amount transferring as it is a gloss. For $49, is it essential? If you don’t normally buy lip gloss, would wear it over matte lipsticks (that’s what I plan to do), and like most of the colors here, yeah it’s worth it. It’s perfectly packaged in every way for spring, but considering the lack of pigment, I wouldn’t say it’s essential. Also a lip primer did not do much to help develop an opaque color.

12, normal application. You see it’s not that pigmented.

This is a shot of transfer. Not necessarily a transfer of color, but of gloss. If that makes sense. There was still color to my lips and I didn't feel I had to reapply.

Kat Von D’s Shade and Light Eye Contour Palette and Brush

The packaging is black and gold. My favorite.

You know I don’t normally buy neutral anything, but this called to me for some reason. I feel it was the consistent improvement between Chrysalis and Interstellar that convinced me. Remember how I bitched about the fallout in Chrysalis? I got over that and bought it use for contouring my face, and oh my god do these palettes last forever. Interstellar had noticeably less fallout, and this one, Shade and Light, has so little I almost can’t believe it The amount you see in the picture is from swatching every color, without dusting it off and the last one in the second row is mostly my fault not the shadow itself. Now colors, from the back of the box I expected there to be a little more green to Lucius and Saleos, but they are indeed truly neutrals. The black, Shax, is mean mother muffin of darkness. True matte colors with an excellent shade range, Kat von D just keeps getting better with every product. For $46? I think it’s good to have a go to non-crazy color palette in your makeup arsenal. This one will most certainly be mine.

I know some people use NYX's black base eyeshadow primer as religiously as I do, and also included their white primer for contrast.

The amount of fallout. I didn't wipe it off as I moved through it. As I was being pretty rough on it. I'm actually impressed.

The brush! I love the Shade and Light Face brush. It has soft hairs but dense enough for decent application. I find the domed end for “blending and highlighting” to be a perfect combination of the two. I use a fluffier brush for my highlight, so this will be used for blending. The precision end is the pointiest brush I have ever seen. It’s so cute, like a little vampire fang. It’s to be used for “contouring and lining”, so I’ll mostly use it for sharpening that dark crease I do sometimes. I feel like the eye brush is closer to being worth the price of $29 than the previous brush for $36, like I would have preferred that brush also be $29, (but it’s bigger so…whatever).

Marc Jacob’s Shameless Blush in “Tantalizing”–

I don’t think this particular product is new for spring, but I love Marc Jacob’s face cosmetics. I loved their foundation and now I love their blush. I go for very dramatic colors, so soft roses and kiss me pinks don’t really do it for me. Hello more red than magenta, welcome to your new home. This is a blush that was designed for every skin tone. It’s a soft powder that easily blends with color you can build up from a whisper to a shout. For $30, this is probably the happiest I’ve been with a blush. It doesn’t disappoint in any aspect.

In its little box, the blush awaits us.

It has an interesting pop up button to release the clasp. Which is great because I am so tired of wrestling with smooth closures. It's always risky business with nails, but not anymore. Isn't that a vintage packaging style?

So far that’s all I have gotten for the spring. I’m making a wishlist and checking it twice, but tell me what are you coveting the most this season? Is your wallet ready? There’s a lot of new stuff coming out in the new few months. I won’t be buying a lot of it, but I would be happy to share what I find in a post for you guys or on any of my other accounts. You know like FacebookYoutubeTumblrInstagram  . I’ll post a video for the VIB Rouge event, as much as they will let me. But while you wait you should Join the Exploration Party by clicking the link at the top of the page.

Until next time,

Don’t be hungry for life. Be ravenous.

  1. Follow the dreamer

    This is awesome.

I’ve always wanted to try out Kat Von D’s make up but unfortunately I’m on a tight budget!

I’m also looking to do product reviews for cosmetic companies. Do you have any that you could recommend me or ones you know accepts reviewers?

    Would be so grateful!

    Great blog!
